Stop with the Damn Ecommerce Lists

The biggest problem with ecommerce sites, its simple, they take orders instead of selling. Most of the focus has been on the “order taking problem”. With well over a decade of ordering taking most ecommerce sites have pretty mature software for the processing of orders. If you want to figure out how to take orders you really just need to make a couple of purchases on Amazon, I still think they are the gold standard.
Is there something you can’t do at Amazon without much sweat? Change any of the following without any hand wringing:
- Quantity of the item
- Shipping method
- Shipping address
- Gift wrapping
- Cancellation
- Partial shipping
- Different Payment Method
Then there’s everything they track for you. Past orders, wish lists, suggestions, etc.
Yes, suggested purchases, and don’t they tend to be GOOD suggestions. Maybe an author or subject you’ve gotten a book on in the past. Sometimes they cross reference two subjects from the past to make an educated guess on a new book. Oh, in case you missed it, Amazon is way past order taking, they are selling!!!
