Engage Users with Online Slide Presentations

Slideshare is the world’s largest community for uploading, sharing and distributing presentations. Over 30 million consumers visit the site monthly and it is becoming a key tool, particularly for B2B sales. A basic membership is free and within 5 minutes you’re ready to start uploading. See how ECommerce Partners used Slideshare to promote our own email marketing product (below the fold) by converting our existing sales presentation from Powerpoint.
While your presentation uploads, you are presented with options including:
- Tags – enables the use of keywords, to make your presentation easy to find and to help the consumer gain more information on the presentation without clicking through.
- Downloading – you are given the choice whether or not to allow other Slideshare users to download your presentation for use with Powerpoint – critical for proprietary sales presentations.
- Licensing – defaulted at “all rights reserved” but there are options for users to have a creative commons license.
- Privacy – can be set to public view, account manager only, or followers only – great for private use within an organization or to share with select clients.
Using Slideshare not only enables your company’s presentation to be viewable by the millions of Slideshare members, but you can also upload your PowerPoint or Keynote presentation to your company Website. Since people’s eyes are naturally drawn quicker to graphics than they are to plain text, presentations can be a great opportunity to increase user engagement. Have a look at our recent slideshow about ecommerce strategy on the Slideshare website – be sure to click the full screen button in the lower-right corner of the slide show.
Presentations can be a great way to increase consumer interest by associating a picture with a concept. Click on one of the presentations on the ECommerce Partners channel on Slideshare and notice that the bottom of each presentation offers links to share the presentation on Twitter, Facebook, or through email – turning a simple presentation into viral marketing. Another feature to take advantage of is using hyperlinks within the presentation so that users may navigate your entire website from within the presentation.
While Slideshare has tons of free benefits, there are also “pro plans” for company’s looking for the additional features the basic plan doesn’t offer. The plans have three different tiers: Silver, Gold and Platinum. At $19 a month, the Silver plan gives users the ability to track their presentations through Google Analytics, which details information such as total views and what keywords are bringing them to your presentation. Silver also increases the interaction between users and companies by letting consumers fill out a form contacting the company about their products or services. By upgrading to $49 a month, you gain access to the gold membership allowing you to brand your own channel and also rids your Slideshare account of all advertisements viewers might get distracted by. Many large corporations such as Pfizer are mainly interested in the Platinum plan, which at $249 a month it gives you full access to your personal channel. By navigating through the channels you can view blog articles, videos, and the latest company news.
Slideshare is a great way to get exposure to your company’s sales materials and engage potential customers on and off your website.
