Apparently Microsoft isn’t finished playing Computer God. According to a report published recently in the Wall Street Journal, the software giant is working on technology that should enable telecommunications companies to combine telephone numbers and instant messenger contact lists. The rationale is that it would make it easier for you to call someone even if you don’t have their telephone number.
Mary-Jo Foley, a Microsoft blogger for ZDNet says that the technology could be made available to the telecom companies as early as this summer.
